Los Angeles Theatre Center

The Latino Theater Company will host the Fourth Annual Los Angeles Theatre Center Gala on Saturday, October 9, 2010, which will include dinner, dancing, and the presentation of awards honoring four exceptional individuals for their support of the objectives of the Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC), a City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department facility operated by the Latino Theater Company.

The Los Angeles Theatre Center is a microcosm of Los Angeles; a destination center for those pursuing artistic excellence; a laboratory where both tradition and innovation are honored and honed. The programming captures the creative vitality that comes from people telling their own stories and digging deep into their traditions to address important issues of our day. The LATC is a space amidst the excitement of downtown Los Angeles where the convergence of people, cultures and ideas gives birth to our future.

The Marco Antonio Firebuagh Legacy Awards are named for the late California State Assemblyman and advocate of education for all. The award recipients this year include America Ferrera, actor and producer ("Ugly Betty," "How to Train Your Dragon," "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"); Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, California 34th Congressional District; Moctesuma Esparza, producer ("Gettysburg," "Selena," "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge") and Chairmain/CEO of Maya Entertainment; and Evelina Fernandez, playwright, screenwriter, actor, producer, and founding member of the Latino Theater Company, which is now in its Silver Anniversary season.

A cocktail reception commences at 6 p.m., followed by a gourmet dinner at 7 p.m., succeeded by the main program and award ceremony at 8 p.m. Following the main program, there will be an after-party with dancing.

Black tie is optional.

Many dignitaries and Hollywood celebrities are expected to be in attendance.

Individual tickets are $500. Table sponsorships are available from $5,000 to $25,000.

Gala Chairperson is Fidel Vargas of Centinela Capital Partners.
